Hey guys, I just got back from my trip to Dubai and I have to admit it is one of the most stunning places to visit (definitely top five on my list!). I had the privilege of staying there for 2 weeks taking in all that Dubai has to offer from its attractions, shopping, and lifestyle (oh and the food)!

Dubai is located in the UAE and is known for its luxury shopping, breathtaking attractions, ultramodern architecture, and endless activities. Everything there is pretty much next level. Upon arriving, I literally had so many emotions running through my head, I was excited, nervous knowing I’m so far away from home. It was all too surreal. Now, as I write this blog post, I literally see myself living there…it was that memorable!

The best part of the trip was the DESERT! Besides having some Sex & the City moments (yes, I felt like Samantha Jones) it was so peaceful and calm being away from the city. There are several desert safari companies that offer adventures out to the desert but Platinum Heritage tops the list! They were so great and everything was so well planned from pick up to drop off (and no, they did not pay me to say this..i wish!) We woke up one morning around 6:00am where we headed out to a remote location in the desert where vintage land rovers were waiting for us. We then proceeded to ride camels (YES, CAMELS!!!) to a little camp in the middle of the desert to experience local Arabic cuisine, dance, a falcon demonstration, and learn about the culture. It was my first time riding a camel and it was not as easy as everyone claims it to be, there is a technique to getting on and off, but so worth it! Oh, I’m also certified at milking goats!

What was so great about this trip was the people I met from all over the world, hearing about their travels. On New Years Eve, I booked tickets last minute to the Dubai Opera where we took part in a meet-and-greet gathering, watched an orchestra perform all the classical songs known to opera and finally watched the light show from the Burj Khalifa…WOW is all I can say! It will be hard for another NYE to beat this one!

Now, let’s talk about the food scene in Dubai. It is filled with endless local cafes and lounges that are not only Insta-worthy picture perfect but so good that I think I gained 10 pounds. For example, for breakfast I had cotton candy on french toast…LIKE WHAT! So if you see yourself in Dubai, here is my TOP 5 PLACES TO EAT (pics are below):

  1. Culinary Boutique – try the pistachio latte, they even pour it for you! Watch the icing melt in the cup
  2. SALT – try the brownie milkshake!
  3. Tom & Serg
  4. Arrows + Sparrows – cotton candy french toast!
  5. Cafe Des Artistes

I could go on and on about Dubai, but I won’t bore you with the details, I hope the pictures speak for themselves! Some tips about Dubai you may find helpful include it is hard to find/drink alcohol so you have to specifically look for lounges that serve beer, wine, etc. Also, most of the time you have to dress appropriately, men can get away with wearing shorts but women must be covered a bit more than normal.

  1. Burj Khalifa – view Dubai for the world’s tallest building
  2. Dubai Mall – SHOPPING, SHOPPING, SHOPPING (plan to spend some $$$)
  3. Burj Al Arab – book a reservation and dine in one of the world’s most iconic hotels
  4. Miracle Garden – gorgeous stunning flower gardens
  5. Madinat Jumeirah – visit the souks!
